Terrigal Boardwalk Upgrade Transforms Central Coast Evenings for Locals

The Terrigal foreshore boardwalk reopened on June 15 after a six-month upgrade that installed new LED lighting, timber seating and 12 permanent vendor bays along the 800-metre stretch between Terrigal Beach and the Haven.

Central Coast Council approved the $4.2 million project in late 2025 to address complaints about uneven paths and limited night access. The timing aligns with rising demand for outdoor evening options as more residents seek local alternatives to Sydney travel on weekends.

Two New Venues Anchor the Change

At the southern end, the former surf club kiosk now operates as Haven Coffee, which extended its hours to 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Further north, the Central Coast Markets collective set up three permanent stalls selling produce from growers in Wyong and Ourimbah. Both sites sit on the updated path that links directly to the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club car park.

Foot traffic data released by the council on July 10 shows a 28 per cent rise in evening visits between 5 pm and 9 pm compared with the same period last year. Average spend at the new vendor bays reached $18 per person on the first two weekends after opening.

Practical Steps for First-Time Visitors

Park at the Haven lot on Ocean Street and walk north along the lit path. The coffee window at Haven Coffee closes at 9 pm while the markets stalls remain open until 8.30 pm on Saturdays. Bring a reusable cup for the $5.50 flat white and arrive before 6.30 pm to secure a bench seat overlooking the water.
