Central Coast Clubs Boost Youth Participation With Upgraded Facilities

Central Coast Council completed new sports amenities at Buff Point and Halekulani Ovals in early 2025 with $2.8 million from the NSW Government, replacing structures that stood for 44 and 54 years.

These projects arrive as the region maintains 164 sporting areas that support more than 20 codes, including netball, touch football, soccer and rugby. The upgrades replace aging infrastructure with modern buildings that allow clubs to run year-round programs without weather disruptions that previously limited use.

Facilities drive participation growth

Work continues at Frost Reserve in Kincumber on a 370-square-metre amenities building due for completion by early 2026. An $11 million package is also lifting 16 sportsgrounds with new lighting, drainage and irrigation, while Niagara Park Stadium receives a separate $2.8 million upgrade for accessibility ahead of its October 15 finish date. A further $11 million indoor multi-purpose centre at Tuggerah is advancing to its second stage at the Central Coast Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex.

Central Coast Sports College marked July 15, 2025, with the appointment of a new principal and recorded dual CIS Cup grand final wins in boys and girls soccer. The school later secured its first NSW PCYC Schoolgirls Cup rugby league title in September 2025 after an 18-14 victory over Westfields Sports High. Student Eliza Familton, 17, received a scholarship to the Central Coast Mariners Academy, and the college launched a partnership to create a full-time pathway for female footballers into the Mariners NPLW program.

Youth recognition ties clubs to families

The 2025 Central Coast Youth Week Awards on April 10 named Chloe Karsten Sportsperson of the Year for her achievements in local youth sport. Council’s Sports Hub directory now lists opportunities that connect families to clubs at venues such as Gosford Showground for the weekly farmers market and East Gosford’s CCVintage Boot Market.
