Central Coast Clubs Get New Training Facilities at Four Ovals

Central Coast Council opened new sports amenities at Buff Point and Halekulani Ovals in early 2025 after the NSW Government provided $2.8 million to replace buildings that had stood for 44 and 54 years. The facilities have been in use since the start of the 2025 winter season and now host regular training and match days for clubs across the region.

These changes arrive as the council maintains 164 sporting areas that cover more than 20 sport types. Clubs at the upgraded sites report steadier schedules because drainage, lighting and player rooms reduce weather-related cancellations and improve safety for evening sessions.

Facilities support year-round programs

An $11 million NSW Government project is installing sports lighting, drainage and irrigation at 16 sportsgrounds across the Central Coast. Niagara Park Stadium is receiving a separate $2.8 million upgrade focused on accessibility and player facilities, with work due for completion on October 15. Construction of a 370 square metre amenities building is also underway at Frost Reserve in Kincumber and is expected to finish by early 2026. A further $11 million indoor multi-purpose centre at Tuggerah is advancing through stage-two works at the Central Coast Regional Sporting & Recreation Complex.

Central Coast Sports College marked its own progress on July 15 2025 with the appointment of a new principal and recent wins in both the boys and girls CIS Cup soccer grand finals. The college has formed a partnership with the Central Coast Mariners that creates a full-time pathway for female players into the NPLW program. These results show how improved local venues help clubs retain juniors and develop pathways that keep athletes on the coast.
