Central Coast Sports Venues Secure State Funding for Major Upgrades

Niagara Park Stadium is set to finish a $2.8 million upgrade on October 15 that adds accessible facilities for players ahead of regional and state championships.

The work forms part of wider Central Coast Council efforts to refresh aging sports sites across the region. Venues that support year-round training and competition benefit when drainage, lighting and basic amenities meet current standards, allowing clubs to schedule more events without weather disruptions.

At Buff Point and Halekulani Ovals, new amenities buildings opened in early 2025 after the NSW Government provided $2.8 million to replace structures that had stood for 44 and 54 years. Construction is also underway at Frost Reserve in Kincumber on a 370 square metre sports amenities building due for completion in early 2026. Stage two works at the Central Coast Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex in Tuggerah continue under an $11 million indoor multi-purpose centre project.

Upgrades across 16 sportsgrounds

An $11 million program is installing sports lighting, drainage and irrigation at 16 sportsgrounds to extend usable hours and improve safety. The package covers irrigation systems that reduce ground closures after rain and lighting that meets competition requirements for evening fixtures.
