Central Coast Sports Facilities Receive Major Upgrades Before Winter Season

New sports amenities at Buff Point and Halekulani Ovals have been in use since the start of the 2025 winter season after receiving $2.8 million from the NSW Government.

Facility Upgrades Support Local Competition

These completed works form part of broader efforts by Central Coast Council to maintain playing surfaces ahead of the current season. The upgrades include new amenities that teams now access for training and match days at the two ovals.

Planned Complexes and Building Works

Central Coast Council is advancing a new $10 million Colongra Sporting Complex supported by $6 million in NSW Government funding, with construction targeted to start in late 2024 and finish in 2025. A separate 370m² sports amenities building at Frost Reserve in Kincumber remains under construction with completion expected by early 2026.

Region-Wide Improvements and Indoor Centre Funding

An $11 million project funded by the NSW Government is upgrading 16 sportsgrounds across the Central Coast region with improved lighting, drainage and irrigation. Central Coast Council also welcomed $11 million from the NSW Government for stage two of an indoor multi-purpose sport and recreation centre at the Tuggerah Regional Sporting & Recreation Complex.

These projects collectively address field conditions and player facilities as clubs prepare schedules and finals series. The timing aligns with winter season demands where drainage and lighting directly affect match availability.

Local teams can now plan training and competition around the enhanced ovals and the expected completion of the Kincumber building. Further progress on the Colongra complex and Tuggerah indoor centre will continue to shape venue options through the remainder of the year.
